Essential Oils For Christmas
Using Essential Oils at Christmas is a great way to give you that 'Holly Jolly Christmas' feeling, by helping you feel cosier and warmer at this festive time.
If you think about it, there are so many smells at Christmas time that will take you back to the 25th of December no matter what time of year you smell them.
Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil
Cinnamon is an extremely calming and warming essential oil which can also help boost creativity. In addition to being a tasty cooking spice, cinnamon is an extremely important medicinal spice. It has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine to provide relief from colds or the flu. Cinnamon can also remove headaches that are caused by colds, remove stiffness in the muscles and joints, and reduce the risk factors associated with diabetes and heart disease.
Please be very careful when using cinnamon essential oil- it can be irritant to the skin if used in the wrong quantities. Completely avoid during pregnancy.
Ginger Essential Oil
Similar to Cinnamon, Ginger essential oil is also very warming to the muscles if massaged into the skin (using a carrier oil). It can relieve muscle ache and arthritic pain. Ginger tea is also used to help prevent feelings of nausea.
Orange Essential Oil
Orange is a joyful, citrussy and refreshing essential oil which can help reduce feelings of depression and anxiety- improving your general mood. It can also cause greater alertness.
Pine Essential Oil
The smell of a real Christmas tree- can't get any better than that! Except maybe when the pine needles fall everywhere are prick your toes, but it's totally worth it! Pine has great holistic benefits to the mind; it improves self-acceptance, concentration, and clears the mind. It also helps remove mental fatigue, nervous exhaustion and can improve circulation which can help balance and regulate your body temperature.
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas with these festive scents- enjoy, and have a lovely Christmas!
Always use a carrier oil if applying to the skin. Never ingest essential oils.
